This week is Children`s Art Week, and it`s the perfect time to share a particularly colourful event we held at the Hospice last month! Our wonderful children and families team often uses creative expression to support young people as they navigate loss and grief.
This recent session linked directly to our exciting art trail. ππ Children engaged with art to express themselves, spending the day decorating elephants, creating and painting their own elephant masks, creating memory books, and even painting our baby elephant, Miles!
These images show more than just artistic creation; they capture children connecting, finding common ground through shared activity, and opening up about experiences that can be incredibly hard to discuss. It beautifully illustrates how art provides a safe and natural space for difficult conversations and emotional processing.
Trunks across the Thames will deliver an amazing art learning programme to schools in our community, alongside talking about the elephant in the room…

ποΈ Our incredible Project Manager, Jess Seymour, was on BBC Radio Berkshire last Monday, talking all about Trunks Across the Thames π.
Jess, who has first-hand experience of our hospice care, couldn`t be more passionate about our trail and spoke beautifully about the importance of opening up important conversations around grief and hospice care, and why elephants are the perfect symbol of strength, memory, and community. π
