Happy World Elephant Day! 🐘
Today, we`re celebrating the amazing animal that inspired our art trail. To mark the occasion, we took our hero elephant, Hope, on a special tour of the hospice!
Elephants are incredibly majestic and symbolise so many of the values at the heart of our mission. From their strong family bonds and unwavering support to their deep compassion, these animals are a perfect representation of the care provided by the incredible teams at Thames Hospice.
Plus, did you know a ‘memory’ is the beautiful name given to a herd of elephants. We are dedicated to creating lasting memories and envision our Trunks across the Thames art trail forming a lasting memory for Slough and Windsor – we’re super excited!
What’s your favourite thing about elephants?!

This World Friendship Day, we`re thrilled to share some wonderful news about a special initiative that beautifully combines the spirit of friendship with incredible community support!
@fhindsjewellers, and long-term supporters of the Hospice, have gone above and beyond their sponsorship for our trail. They`ve created a special way to further celebrate friendship, memories, and connection by launching a wonderful elephant bracelet! All proceeds from the bracelet will be donated directly to us!
So why not support your local hospice and celebrate World Friendship Day by picking up a bracelet for one of your friends, or tell them about this fantastic gift idea?!
These bracelets are available in F. Hinds stores across the Thames Valley and also within our shops (full list below). Plus you can purchase one via our online shop! http://bit.ly/46A9lro

Meet `HOPE` 👏 Hope is our Hero elephant, the first of 30 beautiful elephant sculptures that will be parading through Slough and Windsor next summer. Hope, named because we @thameshospice are committed to ensuring that we are a place of hope, was designed and painted by the incredible Jess (@jessgarrett_tattoos). Hope is adorned in colourful, hand-drawn illustrations of key history from across the two towns – a true celebration of both Slough and Windsor…. Which is exactly what this public art trail plans to do even more so next summer!
Hope is currently based at Thames Hospice. Why not get in to touch to see how you can join the herd and plan a visit to see Hope in person!

Today we enjoyed the launch of “Water Lives Here”, a Project Sponge initiative, in collaboration with @viva.slough and Dulux paint. It is an intergenerational, community-led project celebrating the Salt Hill Stream, a vital but hidden waterway running beneath Salt Hill Park in Slough. This project transforms a once-neglected tunnel connecting two essential green spaces for climate resilience; Salt Hill Park and Baylis Park, into a tribute to local nature and community spirit.
Through a series of creative workshops combining poetry, drawing, immersive sensory exploration, and virtual reality, local residents from the Friends of Salt Hill Park developed ideas and imagery. They took inspiration from the stream and its surrounding nature. These sessions were jointly guided by @jho_artwork an active member of the @viva.slough team, and Aya Rehman, Community Action Manager of @projectspongeslough, helping residents shape the concepts behind the mural.
What a perfect time to visit during the summer holidays to see this amazing mural in all its glory!!
